Lita Lundquist has researched and taught in almost all disciplines of linguistics and published books and articles within e.g. text linguistics, pragmatics, foreign language didactics and translation theory and practice. In recent years, she has focused on how language shapes speech, text and thought and in a broader perspective affects our way of living together. And our way of using humour!
The latter has been a focal point in her research into (Danish) humour, which is the subject of her last two books, Humorsocialisering. Hvorfor er danskerne (ikke) så sjove (som de selv tror de er)? and (together with Helen Dyrbye): Danish Humour – Sink or Swim.

Lita Lundquist har forsket og undervist i næsten alle sprogvidenskabens discipliner og publiceret bøger og artikler inden for bl.a. tekstlingvistik, pragmatik, fremmedsprogsdidaktik og oversættelsesteori og -praksis. I de senere år har hun fokuseret på hvordan sprog former tale, tekst og tanke og i et videre perspektiv påvirker vores måde at leve sammen. Og vores måde at bruge humor på!
Dette sidste har været omdrejningspunkt i hendes forskning i (dansk) humor, som er emnet for hendes to sidste bøger Humorsocialisering. Hvorfor er danskerne (ikke) så sjove (som de selv tror de er)? og (sammen med Helen Dyrbye): Danish Humour – Sink or Swim.
